United States – The latest research report indicates that women who take the Mediterranean diet have a longer tendency to live longer.
The Mediterranean diet usually implies increased consumption of such products and components as olive oil, fruits, fish, nuts, and vegetables and less consumption of red meat products and sweet foods, as reported by The Hills.

The study pointed out that reduced inflammation, lesser insulin resistance and lower BMI all went some way in reducing this risk and that cholesterol and glycemic measures could only play “a minimal role. ”
Unveiling Additional Insights
The study also stated, nevertheless, that “most of the potential advantage of compliance with the Mediterranean diet and mortality is still unclear, and future research should study other outcomes that might link with the Mediterranean diet and reduced mortality and should also analyze cause-specific mortality.”
A study conducted last March also showed that MedDiet could help in lowering the incidence of dementia even in the high genetic risk group. The data was obtained from 60,298 participants monitored for an average of nine years, and the authors identified that those who consumed diets akin to the Mediterranean diet had reduced their dementia risk by up to 23 percent, as reported by The Hills.
